Laboratory Technician (Materials/Concrete)

We are currently looking to recruit Laboratory Technicians at laboratories and projects throughout the UK. Long-term opportunities are available at the following locations:

  • HS2 South Laboratory, Aylesbury, Oxfordshire
  • HS2 North Laboratory, Greatworth, Northamptonshire
  • Devonport Docks, Plymouth
  • Hinkley Point C, Near Bridgwater, Somerset
  • Lynemouth Bay, Morpeth
  • Clifton Ings, York
  • Kilsyth Laboratory, Scotland
  • Inverness Laboratory, Scotland
  • Peterhead Laboratory, Scotland

The roles require a suitable candidate with experience in materials-related testing, including Concrete and Aggregates. There may be a requirement to support the wider materials team within the business from time to time.

Your Mission

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring site sampling and laboratory testing are carried out to high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Maintaining proper records and filing them correctly to satisfy laboratory management system and UKAS requirements.
  • Conducting sampling and testing in accordance with British/European Standards.
  • Checking, cleaning, and maintaining test equipment.
  • Communicating regularly and effectively with internal/external clients and site engineering staff regarding testing requirements.
Who Are We Looking For?

Candidates should have experience in:

  • In-situ testing according to relevant standards.
  • Materials/Aggregate sampling and testing according to relevant standards.
  • Concrete sampling/testing according to relevant standards.
  • Maintaining high standards of work and compliance with UKAS accreditation requirements.

Preferred qualifications include previous experience working within a busy UKAS accredited laboratory, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, and a CSCS card.
