Job description

As a KS1 Learning Mentor in Birmingham, you will deliver personalised support to pupils in Year 1 and Year 2 through focused 1:1 and small group interventions. Working alongside class teachers, your duties span phonics, reading, writing, and early maths, plus emotional and behavioural guidance.

This full-time, temporary contract runs from an immediate start until July 2027, paying £85-£100 daily, based in the Selly Oak ward.

The Role:

As a KS1 Learning Mentor, you’ll work closely with class teachers to support pupils across Year 1 and Year 2. Your responsibilities will include delivering focused interventions in phonics, reading, writing, and early maths, as well as providing emotional and behavioural support where needed. You’ll help create a positive and engaging learning environment that enables children to grow in confidence and independence.

The Candidate:

You should hold a degree in any subject and have a strong interest in primary education, particularly early learning. A calm, nurturing approach and the ability to build trust with young children are essential. Any experience in a school, nursery, or working with children in another setting will be helpful.

Requirements
