Location: East Birmingham
School Type: 2-Form Entry Primary School
Contract: Full-Time (Monday – Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:00 PM)
Start Date: May 2025
End Date: July 2026
Salary: £89.85 - £120 per day. Paid on a PAYE basis via TeacherActive

Are you passionate about supporting young learners with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have experience working with children from low-privilege backgrounds and a strong understanding of mental health challenges?

We are seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to join a supportive and inclusive Primary School in East Birmingham. This role is perfect for someone with a background in education, teaching assistance, or mentoring, who is committed to making a real difference in children's lives.

The Role:

As a Learning Mentor, you will:

  1. Support pupils with SEMH and mental health challenges, providing 1:1 and small-group interventions.
  2. Build strong, positive relationships with children to boost their confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.
  3. Liaise confidently with parents and external agencies to ensure pupils receive the best possible support.
  4. Work closely with teachers and school staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  5. Monitor and report on pupils' progress, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for further development.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  1. Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, ideally in a school setting.
  2. A qualification related to Teaching Assistance, Education, or Child Development.
  3. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  4. Confidence in working with parents and external agencies to support pupils' progress.
  5. A commitment to fostering a safe, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
