Job summary

Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced Primary Learning Mentor to work in a primary school in the Stechford area of Birmingham. This is a full-time position starting September 2026, supporting pupils across school who require additional help with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement with learning.

The successful candidate will work with pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping to remove barriers to learning, build confidence and encourage positive behaviour and

Qualifications

• Recent experience working with children in a school setting.
• Enhanced DBS via Update Service or willing to obtain one.
• Strong behaviour management skills.
• Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional or behavioural needs.
• Ability to build relationships with pupils.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring to pupils.
• Support behaviour, wellbeing and engagement across the school.
• Work closely with teaching staff and the pastoral team.

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working specifically as a Learning Mentor is essential for this role.

• Recent experience working with children in a school setting
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional or behavioural needs
• A confident, patient and positive approach
• The ability to build strong relationships with pupils
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to obtain one
• The ability to provide suitable references covering the required period
