Kitchen Assistant – The Mountains Care Home

Location: Libanus, Brecon, Powys

Pay: £12.35 per hour

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 35 hours per week

Shift Pattern: 08:00 – 18:00 (3 days one week / 4 days the following week on rota basis)

We’re looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join the catering team at The Mountains Care Home, a specialist dementia and mental health nursing home set in the beautiful Brecon Beacons.

This is a hands‑on role supporting our Cook and helping ensure meals are prepared and served in a clean, safe, and well‑organised kitchen environment.

About The Mountains

The Mountains is a 50‑bed nursing home providing high‑quality care for older adults living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, and mental health conditions. Our home has a strong family atmosphere, supported by a committed and friendly team.

Your Role

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll play an important part in the day‑to‑day running of the kitchen. Duties will include:

  • Supporting the Cook with day‑to‑day kitchen tasks
  • Washing up, cleaning equipment, and maintaining kitchen hygiene
  • Cleaning work surfaces, floors, and kitchen areas
  • Assisting with basic food preparation as required
  • Following food hygiene, infection control, and health & safety procedures
  • Supporting the smooth running of meal services

  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to help
  • Able to work as part of a team and follow instructions
  • Experience in a kitchen or care environment preferred but not essential
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and cleanliness (training provided)
