Kennel Assistant – Stray Dog Care

Location : Baldock (supporting stray dogs across the Home Counties)

Pay : £12.60 per hour

Contract : Part-Time | Temp-to-Perm

Shift Pattern (rotating) :

  • Week 1 : Saturday, Sunday, Monday
  • Week 2 : Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

Are you passionate about helping stray and unwanted dogs?

We are recruiting a Kennel Assistant for an expanding organisation that specialises in the collection, care and rehoming of stray dogs. This is a rewarding hands‑on role where you’ll directly support the welfare of dogs in need.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of kennel facilities
  • Transport dogs to and from veterinary appointments
  • Assist with temperament testing and behaviour assessments (training provided)
  • Administer treatments and monitor animal welfare
  • Work with partner organisations to rehome suitable stray dogs
  • Support animal handlers and veterinary professionals
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
Requirements :
  • Experience in kennels or animal care
  • Excellent dog-handling skills and a calm, confident approach
  • Knowledge of canine first aid (desirable)
  • Caring and compassionate attitude
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Competent with IT systems and attention to detail
  • Animal care qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
  • Full UK driving licence (held for 2+ years, age 22+ for insurance)
  • Company van provided when driving is required
