Overview

A well-known Japanese media company is currently looking for a Japanese speaking Advertising and Marketing Assistant. The role involves sales for their print and digital products along with marketing support for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and general secretarial back up. Native-level English and business level Japanese are required for this role.

Location: London

Salary (Annual): £20-28k depending on experience

Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday

Hybrid working: usually 3 days a week in the office, flexible in practice

Advertising and Marketing Assistant Responsibilities
  1. Sales for their print and digital products
  2. Understanding all advertising menus (print and digital) and rules; answering enquiries and controlling bookings; assisting in the preparation of materials
  3. Having meetings with clients, advertising agencies and representatives; carrying out overseas trips when the General Manager thinks it necessary
  4. Managing progress of advertising campaigns at the request of the General Manager and relaying to advertising agencies or representatives
  5. Liaising with Media Business and Global Business of Tokyo head office for sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa (writing emails in Japanese is necessary)
  6. Overall assistance for representatives, and booking/material management
Marketing Support in Europe, Middle East and Africa
  1. Producing brochures, sales material, and presentation documents in English, including proofreading and editing; translation from Japanese may be included
  2. Daily checking and filing of advertising/marketing news from newspapers, trade magazines and relevant websites
General Secretarial Back-up
  1. Typing general correspondence and general secretarial assistance in the advertising department
  2. Liaising with clients, advertising agencies and representatives to set up appointments
  3. Sending invoices to representatives or advertising agencies and managing their payments
  4. Answering advertising enquiries with respect to media packs and follow-ups
Ideal Candidate
  • Native-level English and business-level Japanese (high level of written English; ability to translate from Japanese to English; Japanese writing and reading skills are mandatory)
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Windows including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Experience in an advertising or marketing role
  • Experience working in a Japanese environment
