Job summary

A tier one principal contractor in the UK is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to manage all commercial aspects of a major civils water project. The ideal candidate will have a BSc in Quantity Surveying, at least one year of experience with a UK contractor, and will be commercially aware with strong numerical skills. Qualifications

  • Preferably civil engineering project experience.
  • Knowledge of NEC form of contracts.

Job description

An opportunity exists for an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor seeking to further develop their career with a tier one principal Contractor on a major civils water project managing all commercial aspects.

Your responsibilities will include
  • Applications, valuations / cost value reconciliation.
  • Cost control and forecasting. Prepare and feed information for monthly reports : value, cost, profit / loss, cash flow.
  • Supply chain management.
  • Assisting with Risk and Value Management to optimise solution. Mentor and regularly review with the project team.
  • Contract Management – including all relevant contractual forms, methods of budgetary control and relevant software applications.
  • Prepare subcontract enquiries negotiate and set up contracts.
  • Ensure all notifications / documents are kept up to date
  • Ensure all safety risk situations are brought to the attention of site management.
  • Ongoing liaison with site team, subcontractor(s) and clients’ representative(s)
  • Provide contractual advice to the site team as and when required.
Requirements for this opportunity include
  • BSc / Dip Quantity Surveying or similar
  • At least one year’s post-graduation experience with a UK contractor
  • Preferably civil engineering project experience
  • Knowledge of NEC form of contracts
  • Commercially aware with excellent numerical skills
  • Competent in using MS Excel and QS software
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately
  • Clear and professional communication with site teams and subcontractor
  • Working towards RICS or ICES
