Interim School Business Manager – Interviews This Week

A local government client is seeking an Interim School Business Manager to step into a secondary school and relieve delegation from a senior administrator.

Contract Duration: 3 months (possibility of extension)
Rate: DOE
IR35: Inside
Days: 37 hours x 5 days per week (or 30 hours x 4 days per week)
Hybrid: As needed in office for key meetings, otherwise remote where possible.
Start Date: Beginning of January.

Main Duties
  • Run the secondary school budget day‑to‑day and assist with a budget recovery plan.
  • Authorise all income and expenditure for the school and conduct a budget recovery.
  • Hands‑on role with no managerial responsibilities.
Successful Candidates
  • Experience as a School Business Manager, ideally for a secondary school – large primary school or college experience acceptable.
  • Specific experience in budget recovery and understanding of bursary services.
  • Experience running school budgets and overall Dedicated School Grants (DSG).
  • Desirable but not essential: experience in a similar role for a local authority.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage key stakeholders.
