Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an Interim Capital Accountant for an assignment with a local authority in the North West. The successful candidate will support the Head of Finance on all capital matters, coordinate the capital programme, and lead the authority’s Capital Programme for 2025/2026. Essential qualifications include CCAB and management qualifications along with recent experience in Capital Planning. This role offers hybrid working arrangements and is open to inclusive recruitment from diverse backgrounds.

Interim Capital Accountant

Salary: £450 to £550 p/day
Type: Interim, Full time
Location: North West (hybrid/remote)

Interim Capital requires joining a local authority in the North West for a 6‑ to 9‑month interim assignment. As the Interim Capital Accountant you will support the Head of Finance in delivering on all capital matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Co‑ordinating and accounting for the capital programme, Treasury Management and Technical Accounting support.
  • Lead the authority’s Capital Programme for the MTFS and Capital closure of accounts and Statement of Accounts for 2025/2026.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Fixed Asset system.
Essential Experience
  • CCAB qualification as well as a management qualification, membership of a relevant accountancy body and evidence of CPD.
  • Previous local authority background.
  • Recent experience in Capital: Capital Planning and Monitoring (including Statutory Returns), Capital Closure of Accounts and Financial Statements and working papers.
