Job summary

A local educational institution is seeking an Independence Tutor for a part-time role in St. Austell. This position involves supporting young adults aged 16-25 with complex needs. Location: St Austell

Salary: £26,795.04 - £27,846.00 per annum (CC_34 to CC_36) - pro-rata range for part-time role: £21,363.61 - £22,201.54

Terms & Conditions: Part Time, Teaching Contract (29.5 hours per week/52 weeks per year)

We are looking for a dedicated, passionate, and creative Tutor to join our team at the St Austell campus, supporting young adults aged 16-25 with complex needs. You’ll help students build essential life skills that promote independence and active participation within their communities.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver a personalised, inclusive curriculum tailored to each learner’s individual needs.
  • Focus on developing practical life skills, communication, social interaction, and community engagement.
Skills & Experience
  • Ideally hold a relevant PGCE or CertEd teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.
  • An Assessor’s Award or a commitment to achieve this within two years is desirable.
  • Experience in teaching or a strong understanding of LLDD (Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities) provision.
  • Functional Skills qualifications at Level 3 or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Demonstrate high levels of accuracy, strong presentation skills, and effective resource management, supported by extensive experience either within industry or in an SEN setting.
Hours of Work

This role is on a part-time basis, 29.5 hours per week.
