Job summary

Protocol Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a specialist resource base in a primary school in the North Bristol area. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and participate in wider school life.

You will work closely with teachers and support staff to foster emotional regulation, communication and social development, while building trusting relationships and supporting individual learning journeys.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach is essential.
• Ability to understand behaviour as a form of communication.
• Capable of remaining calm and consistent when support is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils in a specialist resource base.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and collaborate with staff.
• Support communication, emotional regulation and social development.
• Adapt activities to meet individual needs and unlock learning potential.
• Encourage independence, confidence and participation in school life.
