Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a caring SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in North Bristol, near Lawrence Weston. You will support pupils with diverse needs, collaborating with teachers, the SENDCo, and external professionals to help each child thrive academically and socially.

The role focuses on 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities, and assisting with EHCPs. A relevant qualification or willingness to train is desirable, and the school values

Qualifications

  • Has experience of working with children, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge of SEND including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children succeed.

Job description

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in North Bristol, local toLawrence Weston. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to thrive both academically and socially.

Working closely with class teachers, the SENDCo, and external professionals, you will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Support children with communication, learning, social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning requirements.
  • Foster positive relationships that promote confidence, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Assist with the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support plans.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies.
  • Help create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has experience of working with children, ideally within a primary school setting.
  • Has knowledge of SEND, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Is patient, empathetic, and committed to helping children succeed.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Can remain calm, flexible, and proactive in a busy school environment.
  • Holds a relevant qualification or is willing to undertake training (desirable but not essential).
