In-House Counsel

Cirencester, Gloucestershire | Full-time / Part‑time | Starting ASAP

Please note that while this role is advertised as full‑time, we will consider applications for part‑time hours over days.

We are seeking a proactive, practical and business‑focused individual to provide legal support across the organisation. You will have a primary focus in commercial law and be integral in supporting the business in achieving its strategic and operational goals by managing legal risk, ensuring compliance and negotiating and drafting contracts.

What You’ll Be Doing :
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts including supplier agreements, customer terms, licensing, distribution and framework agreements.
  • Advising on commercial law matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advising on legal risks and obligations in relation to technology procurement, resale and service delivery.
  • Maintaining, enhancing and supporting the contract management process, including contract templates, playbooks and policies.
  • Assisting with dispute resolution, pre‑litigation strategy and management of external counsel when required.
  • Monitoring regulatory and legal developments relevant to the technology sector, advising on potential impacts and risk mitigation.
  • Acting as the company’s Data Protection Office to include undertaking all tasks ordinarily expected of that position, including devising and delivering training to staff when required.
  • Monitoring compliance with data protection laws impacting the territories within which the business operates and ensuring company policies and processes align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Contributing to governance, compliance and risk management frameworks.
  • Delivering training and guidance to internal teams on key legal and compliance topics.
What We’re Looking For :
  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales or Scotland) or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
  • years’ post qualification experience in commercial law, ideally gained in‑house although private practice practitioners with sufficient experience of business operations will be considered.
  • Strong background in drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Experience working with tendering and public procurement.
  • Previous experience working within a fast‑paced corporate or commercial environment.
  • Knowledge of data protection, intellectual property and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal risk with business priorities.
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills – ability to convey complex legal issues in a practical and accessible manner.
  • Self‑motivated and enthusiastic.
  • High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism.
