Job summary

SSEN Transmission is recruiting an HVDC Project Engineer to join the Offshore Directorate in Scotland. Based in Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness, you will support the delivery of major HVDC infrastructure projects that underpin the UK's low‑carbon energy transition.

This permanent, full‑time role offers a flexible first option and a competitive salary. You will coordinate design assurance, review contractor deliverables, engage with technical authorities, attend FATs and assist commissioning while

Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Experience in project engineering, ideally HVDC or power transmission.
• Knowledge of electrical plant, substations or HVDC systems.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design assurance activities and support project governance.
• Review contractor deliverables for main plant equipment and systems.
• Collaborate with authorities to review engineering deliverables.
• Attend FAT and support commissioning activities.
• Promote safety culture and manage engineering, quality and project risks.
