Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking an HVDC Project Engineer to join the Offshore Directorate as part of Pathway to 2030. Based in Scotland (Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness) you will help deliver major HVDC infrastructure projects and work with a range of technical specialists.

You will coordinate design assurance, review contractor deliverables, attend FAT, support commissioning and help manage safety and project risks across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• A degree, HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Experience in project engineering, ideally HVDC or power transmission.
• Knowledge of electrical plant, substations or HVDC systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design assurance activities and support the delivery of project governance and stage-gate documentation.
• Review contractor deliverables for main plant equipment and auxiliary systems, ensuring compliance with technical and quality requirements as part of the equipment approval process.
• Collaborate with technical authorities and engineering specialists to facilitate effective review and approval of engineering deliverables.
• Attend factory acceptance testing (FAT) and support commissioning activities to ensure equipment performs as intended.
• Promote a positive safety culture and support the management of engineering, quality and project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
