Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking an HVDC Project Engineer to join the HVDC Engineering team in Scotland. Based from Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness, you will support delivery of major HVDC infrastructure projects central to the UK's energy transition.

You will coordinate design assurance, review contractor deliverables, and participate in FAT and commissioning, while promoting safe practices and managing project risks across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• A degree, HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in project engineering, ideally within HVDC, power transmission or energy infrastructure.
• Knowledge of electrical plant, substations, HVDC systems or related technologies.
• Strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate design assurance activities and support project governance and stage-gate documentation.
• Review contractor deliverables for main plant equipment and auxiliary systems for compliance.
• Collaborate with authorities and engineers to facilitate review and approval of deliverables.
• Attend FAT and support commissioning to ensure equipment performs as intended.
• Promote safety culture and manage engineering, quality and project risks.
