Job summary

SSEN Transmission invites a Lead Principal Engineer – HVDC Plant to shape the future of HVDC engineering across a multi-project offshore portfolio, as we deliver a programme valued at around £30bn over the next five years.

Based in one of our Scottish locations (Perth, Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness) with 50% office attendance, you will provide technical leadership, drive standardisation, resolve complex design issues and guide a team of specialists.

Qualifications

• Deep technical knowledge of HVDC Plant engineering and relevant standards.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience delivering complex HVDC converter projects.
• Ability to lead and grow others in a multi-project environment.
• Degree in engineering; Chartered status preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for HVDC Plant engineering initiatives across projects.
• Drive proactive resolution of technical issues and balance risk with delivery.
• Guide and nurture a team of specialist engineers.
• Promote health, safety, and environmental excellence.
• Engage with technology providers to shape future strategies.
