Job summary

SSEN Transmission, based in Scotland, seeks a Lead Principal Engineer – HVDC P&C to shape engineering strategy across major offshore projects. You will lead standards, drive risk-based decisions and mentor a team of specialists, with 50% office presence in Scottish locations.

You will collaborate with procurement, operations and industry partners to advance HVDC technology, ensure compliance with CDM/ESQCR, and deliver safe, reliable energy infrastructure for the net-zero programme.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering HVDC P&C engineering design outcomes across projects.
• Ability to lead, influence outcomes and grow others through collaborative decision making.
• Degree in engineering with Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for HVDC P&C engineering initiatives.
• Resolve HVDC P&C design issues ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Lead a team of specialist engineers and foster inclusive culture.
• Promote health, safety and environmental excellence per standards.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement across programmes.
• Engage with technology providers to shape future pipelines.
