The Role

Reporting to the Grimsby HR Business Partner, this role supports two sites and five operational areas. You'll lead on employee relations, workforce planning, training, engagement, HR reporting, and ways of working, acting as a trusted advisor to operational leaders. You will ensure HR compliance, drive continuous improvement, and support the site in achieving operational and people-focused goals.

  • Strong HR generalist background with leadership experience.
  • Proven capability in managing complex ER matters and coaching people managers.
  • Experience leading or supporting training and development programmes.
  • CIPD qualified.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office.
  • Desirable: Experience in manufacturing or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Desirable: Experience working within a matrix organisation.
  • Desirable: Experience using HR, T&A, or recruitment systems.

Your Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
  • Provide coaching and guidance to people managers on disciplinary, grievance, attendance, and performance matters.
  • Lead complex ER cases and ensure consistent application of company policies and employment law.
  • Drive absence reduction by owning the attendance management system and supporting managers to follow it correctly.
HR Operations & Ways of Working
  • Attend daily operational meetings to provide HR insight and influence decision-making.
  • Ensure the HR function is always audit-ready, taking corrective actions where required.
  • Identify HR process improvements and implement best practice to improve efficiency.
  • Produce accurate HR KPIs and reports, presenting insights to senior management to support decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with site leadership and the wider HR team to standardise and embed HR processes.
  • Support a busy HR team across two sites, effectively prioritising workload.
Workforce Planning & Recruitment
  • Partner with operations to forecast staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • Work with hiring managers, agency partners, and the central recruitment team to ensure adequate resourcing aligned to crew guides.
  • Lead the new starter process, ensuring smooth and effective onboarding.
  • Monitor labour costs and support workforce optimisation across sites.
Learning, Development & Training
  • Oversee the on-site training function, ensuring mandatory training is completed for audit, customer, and legal requirements.
  • Develop the training team and support the site's goal of becoming a flexible, high‑performing operation.
  • Support delivery of people manager development programmes.
  • Coach managers on the PDR process, goal setting, and effective performance management.
  • Attend monthly Senior CI meetings to present insights, trends, and KPIs.
Engagement, Communication & Wellbeing
  • Champion the site engagement and communication agenda, including the annual employee survey.
  • Facilitate the employee forum and drive positive two‑way communication.
  • Promote wellbeing initiatives and support onsite EAP activities.
  • Communicate benefits, initiatives, and HR updates across the site effectively.
