Job summary

SMT GB is actively seeking a Preventive Maintenance Engineer to support the HS2 project. This field-based role covers Coventry, Solihull, Birmingham, Warwick and surrounding areas, ensuring equipment uptime and safety across major infrastructure works.

Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent) and have demonstrable experience in maintaining construction plant equipment. The role offers full-time, permanent employment with a broad regional coverage and

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance is essential.
Experience maintaining construction plant, heavy construction equipment, agricultural machinery, or HGVs.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Responsibilities

Carrying out planned maintenance servicing and inspections on Volvo construction equipment supporting the HS2 project.
Producing detailed inspection reports, service documentation, oil sample reports, and electronic job records.
Identifying additional repair and aftermarket opportunities while maintaining a commercially focused approach.
Completing product updates, campaigns, and software updates as required.
Maintaining high standards of safety, customer service, housekeeping, and compliance with policies and site procedures.
