Job summary

SMT is a leading distribution company supporting the HS2 project with field-based preventive maintenance across multiple sites in the UK. The role focuses on maintaining Volvo construction equipment, ensuring safety, reliability, and uptime for one of the country’s largest infrastructure schemes.

Applicants should hold an NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent) and have hands-on experience servicing construction plant, heavy machinery, or HGVs.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance (or equivalent) is essential.
• Experience in repair, servicing, and maintenance of construction plant, heavy equipment, or similar.
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to build relationships.
• Full UK driving licence; willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned maintenance servicing and inspections on Volvo construction equipment for the HS2 project.
• Producing detailed inspection reports, service documentation, oil sample reports and electronic job records.
• Identifying additional repair and aftermarket opportunities while maintaining a commercial focus.
• Completing product updates and software updates as required.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, customer service, housekeeping and compliance with policies.
