A local government body in the UK is looking for an HR Officer – Governance and Assurance to oversee HR governance and compliance. This role requires collaboration with various teams and proficiency in SharePoint. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to manage multiple tasks, and committed to improvement initiatives. Benefits include a competitive salary, flexible working options, and health services. Applicants should be ready to embrace digital solutions and work in a dynamic environment.
The HR Governance and Improvement team is seeking a proactive and highly capable individual to join us in the capacity of HR Officer – Governance and Assurance. This role is dedicated to the governance of HR, ensuring that our service meets organisational expectations for compliance and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and reviewing business processes, supporting audit readiness, and maintaining key information systems such as the HR SharePoint Hub and MyNet pages.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong aptitude for technology and a willingness to embrace and experiment with new digital solutions. The postholder will be responsible for a range of essential administrative and compliance tasks, including the management of registers, mailbox oversight, and the regular review and upkeep of site content. A meticulous approach to information management and the ability to meet strict deadlines are essential, particularly as the scope and complexity of audits continue to expand.
The ideal candidate will possess a questioning and proactive mindset, with the confidence to challenge upwards and constructively highlight areas for improvement. The role requires an individual who can act as a bridge between governance requirements and operational colleagues, communicating the rationale behind governance activities in clear and accessible terms. As a key member of the Governance and Improvement team, the postholder will ensure that governance is embedded within HR processes and that compliance is consistently upheld.
Collaboration is fundamental to this position. The HR Officer will work closely with internal HR managers and administrative staff, as well as with colleagues in Information Governance, Information & Analytics, and the SharePoint team. Expertise in SharePoint is highly desirable, as is the ability to manage competing demands and prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment. If you are detail-oriented, resilient, and committed to advancing governance as a driver for improvement, we encourage you to apply.
