HR Advisor - Employee Relations

To provide expert advice and hands‑on support across all aspects of employee relations. The role will focus on managing cases such as disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance improvement, and workplace conflict, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations Case Management
  • Manage a varied caseload of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, and wellbeing cases.
  • Provide practical, commercially balanced advice to managers on employee issues and best practice approaches.
  • Lead and support investigations, including conducting fact‑finding meetings and producing written reports.
  • Chair or support formal meetings such as disciplinary and grievance hearings when required.
Policy & Compliance
  • Ensure company policies are applied fairly and consistently in line with employment legislation and internal procedures.
  • Support the development, review and implementation of HR policies and processes.
  • Monitor trends in employee relations cases and recommend improvements to reduce risk and improve outcomes.
Manager Coaching & Support
  • Coach and upskill line managers on handling employee relations issues confidently and effectively.
  • Provide guidance on difficult conversations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Employee Engagement & Wellbeing
  • Support initiatives to improve employee experience, engagement and wellbeing.
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for employees seeking guidance on workplace concerns.
HR Projects & Collaboration
  • Contribute to wider HR projects and change initiatives.
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners and other stakeholders to support organisational objectives.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
  • Proven experience in an HR Advisory or Employee Relations-focused role.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and ER best practice.
  • Experience managing complex ER cases from start to finish.
  • Excellent communication, listening and influencing skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
Desirable
  • CIPD qualification (Level 3 or above) or working towards.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced or unionised environment.
