Job summary

Niyaa People seeks a Supported Housing Officer / Customer Support Coordinator to deliver frontline housing support for adults across two six-bedroom units in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. You will work to help residents gain independent living skills and prepare for employment, alongside day-to-day housing management.

The role involves welfare checks, lettings coordination, rent monitoring and safeguarding, with an emphasis on person-centred support and collaboration with partner agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct welfare checks and review support plans weekly and monthly.
  • Provide housing-related support to promote independence and readiness for work.
  • Maintain electronic case notes, plans and service records accurately.
  • Monitor rent, Housing Benefit and service charges; assist with payment issues.
  • Liaise with partner agencies to support move-on and access grants.
  • Assess residents and coordinate lettings, move-ins and voids.
  • Carry out routine health and safety checks including fire alarm testing.
  • Manage diary and split time between two services; travel locally.
  • Work autonomously with safeguarding as a priority.

Job description

An opportunity is available for a Supported Housing Officer / Customer Support Coordinator with a housing provider delivering supported accommodation and housing-related services to adults across Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

The role provides frontline support across two six-bedroom supported housing services, working with adults aged 18+ who may have additional needs, including mental health support needs. The focus is on helping residents develop independent living skills, prepare for employment and successfully move into longer-term accommodation, alongside day-to-day housing management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct weekly welfare checks and monthly support plan reviews.
  • Provide person-centred, housing-related support to promote independence and employment readiness.
  • Maintain accurate electronic case notes, support plans and service records.
  • Monitor rent, Housing Benefit and service charges, supporting residents with payment issues.
  • Liaise with partner agencies to support successful move-on and access to grants.
  • Assess prospective residents and coordinate lettings, move-ins and voids.
  • Complete routine health and safety checks, including fire alarm testing.
  • Manage your own diary and effectively divide your time between two services.
  • Work autonomously while maintaining a strong focus on resident wellbeing and safeguarding.
About You
  • Previous experience supporting vulnerable adults, ideally in supported housing, homelessness or a housing-related setting.
  • Person-centred approach with the ability to encourage independence.
  • Strong IT and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own workload and travel between locations.
  • Knowledge of Housing Benefit, rent monitoring, service charges, voids and lettingsis desirable.
  • Enhanced DBSrequired due to lone-working responsibilities; an existing recent certificate is preferred.
  • Driving licence and access to transport desirable butnot essential.
