The successful candidate will be based from an office in Bradford but will travel between multiple local services and properties. This includes supporting residents who may have recently left prison and individuals who require additional support to maintain their accommodation and work towards greater independence.

You will work directly with vulnerable adults who may have complex needs and, at times, present challenging or unpredictable behaviour. The successful candidate will need to be confident managing difficult situations while maintaining a calm, professional and person-centred approach.

This is a full-time, Monday-to-Friday position, working 9:00am–5:00pm, with a paid break. The position is temporary and ongoing, with an immediate start required.

Key Responsibilities of a Housing Support Officer:

  • Support residents who have recently left prison or have previous involvement with the criminal justice system.
  • Assist residents with Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and other welfare-related matters where required.
  • Complete resident sign-ups and associated housing and support documentation.
  • Carry out regular welfare checks and respond appropriately to concerns regarding residents' wellbeing.
  • Complete and review risk assessments, support plans and relevant housing documentation.
  • Undertake regular property and accommodation checks, reporting any concerns appropriately.
  • Support residents to maintain their tenancy and understand their housing responsibilities.
  • Manage challenging situations, incidents and antisocial behaviour in a calm and professional manner.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns in accordance with relevant procedures.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with residents while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Encourage residents to engage with relevant external services and support agencies.
  • Liaise with other professionals and agencies involved in residents' care and support.
  • Maintain accurate records, case notes and confidential documentation.
  • Help maintain a safe, supportive and positive environment for residents and colleagues.
  • Travel between different supported housing services and locations across Bradford.

We are looking for candidates who have significant experience working with vulnerable adults and individuals with complex needs.

  • Experience completing risk assessments, welfare checks, support plans and/or property inspections.
  • Experience working with individuals affected by substance misuse, domestic abuse, offending and antisocial behaviour.
  • Confidence working with individuals who may display challenging or unpredictable behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A resilient, compassionate and professional approach.
