Job summary

A leading mental health charity in the North East is seeking a Housing Recovery Coordinator to provide outreach support and advice to adults in the community. Successful candidates will manage a caseload developing comprehensive support plans and conducting assessments. Key requirements include knowledge of the welfare benefits system and housing options, as well as a driving license. Working Hours: 9-5pm Monday Thursday & 9am-4:30pm

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Housing Recovery Coordinator to work across Durham County. The most important things you’ll bring to this role are your positive attitude, enthusiasm, integrity and ability to use initiative as well as your belief in our ambition : to eliminate the problems of housing associated with alcohol and drug use.

This is your chance to join an established team aiming to address the housing needs of those in treatment and improve engagement in treatment of those working with Housing Solutions or living in temporary accommodation. You will contribute to this position by providing support and advice to those involved in substance misuse where this creates a barrier to housing.

You’ll need to be able to work with service users holistically, helping them to access other services that can help with the practical problems they may be facing as a result of their substance misuse (e.g. housing, financial, healthcare etc).

What You’ll Do
  • To provide outreach support and advice to adults in the community to support them to secure appropriate accommodation and live independently.
  • Manage a caseload as allocated by the Service Manager and complete high quality and comprehensive needs assessments and risk assessments for each individual.
  • Develop comprehensive support / risk plans to identify how the individuals needs will be met in order to help each service user live independently within the community and achieve sustained outcomes.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or above or equivalent) or willing to work towards this in post.
