Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Colchester is hiring a part-time Housekeeper to clean ward and communal areas, supporting a safe and healthy environment for service users. You will work 12 hours weekly, Friday to Sunday, 8am to 12pm, with flexible hours possible.

Overview Cygnet Hospital Colchester, CO4 5HF Part Time 13.15 GBP Hourly 30 September 2026 Helping others improve and turn their lives around - there's no better feeling. Cygnet Hospital Colchester is a 59 bed service providing a range of intensive support and rehabilitation services for men with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders or mental health needs. We are recruiting for a Part-time Housekeeper to provide general cleaning and housekeeping duties on the Wards and communal Areas at the Hospital to help maintain a safe & healthy environment for our service users. You will work 12hrs a week covering Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am-12pm (hours can flexible). The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of providing friendly, effective cleaning service with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the site maintains a high level of cleanliness
• Carry out daily & weekly cleaning regimes
• Maintain & replenish stock and ensure that equipment is clean & well maintained
• Employ safe working practices & adhere to health & safety procedures
• Comply with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations, We carefully review applications, considering factors like visa status, location, and experience.

Qualifications and requirements

• Experienced in cleaning, housekeeping or domestic work (desirable)
• Knowledgeable of COSHH (desirable)

Salary

£13.15 per hour rising to £13.45 after 3 months
