The Role
New City College is seeking a committed and inspiring Lecturer in Business to join our dynamic teaching team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high‑quality education through an innovative partnership between Bath Spa University (BSU) and New City College (NCC) at our Hackney University Campus and across London. You will play a key role in shaping the future of adult students, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed for academic and career success before progressing to the full degree programme with BSU.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective teaching across a range of business subjects at Foundation Year level (pre‑degree / Level 3‑4 transition), supporting learners who may have diverse educational backgrounds and confidence levels.
- Teach across the full Foundation Year programme supporting students’ academic and personal development.
- Adapt and nuance learning materials to meet the needs of groups and individuals as necessary.
- Monitor student progress, and provide constructive, institutionally aligned feedback, leading to improved retention, achievement and progression.
- Assess student work and provide high‑quality, individualised written feedback in line with Bath Spa University assessment regulations, marking criteria, moderation requirements and feedback turnaround expectations.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings with both Bath Spa University and New City College, where required, to meet the needs of both institutions.
- Maintain accurate course records and contribute to quality assurance and review processes.
- Uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies.
Qualifications
- You hold a good degree in Business or a related field.
- You hold a recognised teaching qualification or HEA Certificate.
- You have experience teaching a broad range of business subjects to diverse cohorts (confidence educational history, language challenges, etc.).
- You have strong communication and organisational skills, with a student‑centred approach to teaching.
- You are committed to inclusive education and able to support learners from diverse backgrounds.
- You are collaborative and comfortable working across a dual‑institution partnership environment.
- You must either hold a valid DBS certificate or be willing to apply for one prior to the commencement of employment.
