Job summary

Ainscough Crane Hire Limited is offering an Apprentice Hire Desk Controller position in the United Kingdom. You will work alongside the Depot Manager and Hire Desk team to learn how a busy hire desk operates, support customers and coordinate crane hires.

This apprenticeship provides on-the-job experience and a structured training programme. You don’t need prior crane hire experience; a positive attitude, good communication and organisational skills are key.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in Maths and English at grade 4/C or equivalent, or willingness to achieve functional skills during the apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Speak with customers by phone and email, understanding their requirements and providing a helpful, professional service.
• Learn about Ainscough’s cranes, services and hire processes.
• Support the team in turning hire enquiries into confirmed orders.
• Accurately capture customer, job and site information.
• Help coordinate hires, including checking crane availability and supporting fleet planning.
• Assist with quotations, order confirmations and hire documentation.
• Keep customer and hire records accurate and up to date.
• Build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers.
• Support customer follow-ups and help maintain our high service standards.
• Check information for invoice accuracy and raise any discrepancies.
• Complete your apprenticeship training and apply what you learn in your day-to-day role.
• Take on more responsibility as your knowledge, skills and confidence develop.
