Ainscough Crane Hire is offering an Apprenticeship for a Hire Desk Controller Apprentice in Nottingham. You’ll learn how a busy hire desk operates, support customers, and contribute to fleet planning while gaining on-the-job experience and structured training.

You don’t need previous crane hire experience; the role focuses on attitude, willingness to learn, and developing professional telephone and written communication skills within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English, or is willing to achieve the required Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship.
• Ability to use computer systems and learn new software used on the hire desk.

Responsibilities

• Speak with customers by phone and email, understanding their requirements and providing a helpful, professional service.
• Learn about Ainscough’s cranes, services and hire processes.
• Support the team in turning hire enquiries into confirmed orders.
• Accurately capture customer, job and site information.
• Help coordinate hires, including checking crane availability and supporting fleet planning.
• Assist with quotations, order confirmations and hire documentation.
• Keep customer and hire records accurate and up to date.
• Build positive relationships with customers, colleagues and suppliers.
• Support customer follow-ups and help maintain our high service standards.
• Check information for invoice accuracy and raise any discrepancies.
• Complete your apprenticeship training and apply what you learn in your day-to-day role.
