Job summary

Ainscough Crane Hire in Cardiff is seeking a Hire Controller to turn customer enquiries into confirmed hires, coordinating cranes, people and equipment.

This fast-paced role requires commercially minded individuals who can build relationships, solve problems and deliver profit for the depot.

You'll work closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure the right solutions, maintain systems, and uphold safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in rental, hire, transport or logistics is advantageous.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) required.
• Strong customer service and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organisation and time-management abilities.
• Ability to learn quickly and deliver results.

Responsibilities

• Respond to customer enquiries and understand exact needs.
• Convert enquiries into orders and maximise sales.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and teams.
• Develop understanding of our crane fleet, products and services.
• Coordinate crane allocation and resources.
• Support Depot Manager with day-to-day operations.
• Manage costs and ensure efficient resource use.
• Keep customer information and systems accurate.
• Work with operations to deliver the right solution.
• Handle queries professionally and resolve issues.
• Ensure activities meet health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Support out-of-hours calls when required.
