Job description

Highways Operative – Cullompton

Our clients are looking for Highways Operatives to join their hardworking dedicated team in Cullompton.

Key Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team undertaking highways repairs, ranging from patching, resurfacing, potholes, drainage, footways and general highway maintenance.
• Use technology (tablets/apps) to input safety data and maintenance records.
• Drive/operate plant and equipment where trained, necessary for the day-to-day tasks set.
• Take responsibility for vehicles/plant/materials in your charge.
• Where appropriate provide direction/supervision of the work to less experienced operatives.

Essential Skills

• Driving license – ideally clean, some points accepted.
• A commitment to health and safety.
• Good communication skills and basic literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to undertake a high level of manual work and work outdoors in all weathers.
• CSCS card.

Desirable Skills

• Highways experience.
• HGV licence.
• New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) not essential.
• Operative accreditation Lantra 12D not essential.

Rate of Pay

• £12.25 - £13.50 per hour depending upon experience.
• Overtime at 150% after 40 hours.
• These will be PAYE positions so you will benefit from accrued holiday pay from day one.
• Pension contributions (after a qualifying period).
• Weekly pay.
• No umbrella payments or fees; only tax and National Insurance deductions which will be shown on your payslip.
