Job description

The Royal London Hospital is offering an opportunity for a Senior Physiotherapist to work in a specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment and clinical management of patients with vascular disease and patients post‑surgery, including major amputation. This is a one‑year maternity leave fixed‑term post. The ideal candidate will have a passion for physiotherapy; excellent communication skills, plenty of initiative and enthusiasm with the ability to work autonomously and as a part of the wider MDT. Within Barts we offer a robust teaching and training programme with the opportunity to complete Quality Improvement and Audit projects, and we provide a supportive and engaging environment to develop and grow our therapists. As a Band 7 physiotherapist you will have the opportunity to develop your own supervisory and management skills through supporting and supervising junior therapists, students and/or therapy support workers. The role is for a full‑time post and includes being a member of the Respiratory On Call Rota, as well as covering a weekend service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership across the RLH Surgical & Vascular pathway, working alongside the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and fellow Band 7 therapists, in planning, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating the physiotherapy service.
  • Take a lead role in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with vascular disease, renal disease, including those who have had surgeries and undergone major amputations.
  • Communicate effectively with other health care professionals, social services and external partners regarding patient care, progress and planning of rehabilitation and discharge needs.
  • Be responsible for the day‑to‑day clinical and operational management ensuring professional delivery of the physiotherapy service with support for the Surgical & Vascular Therapy Team.
  • Work with the Clinical Lead Therapist to develop the service to best meet changing health and social care agendas, and provide clinical leadership and skill development to the team.
  • Deputise for and support the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist when and where required.
  • Occasional cross cover under the specialities of general surgery, elective orthopaedics, gynaec‑oncology, neuro‑surgery, neuro‑oncology and trauma.
