Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking an experienced HGV Workshop Controller in Bristol. Responsible for the efficient maintenance and repair of HGVs, the Controller will manage a team and ensure compliance with legal standards. HGV Workshop Controller

Our client is seeking an experienced Workshop Controller to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of a HGV fleet workshop, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance and repair of vehicles. The Workshop Controller will oversee a team of HGV technicians and support staff, drive performance standards, and ensure vehicles are maintained to meet operational and legal requirements.

Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience in managing a busy HGV workshop or similar fleet maintenance environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HGVs, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
  • Understanding of DVSA regulations, Operator Licence compliance, and fleet safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • IT literate with experience using fleet management or workshop systems (e.g. Tranman, AssetWorks, FleetWave).
  • Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, IRTEC, CPC (desirable).
  • Experience working in a local authority or municipal fleet environment (desirable).
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in fleet operations such as alternative fuels, emissions reduction (desirable).

This is a full-time, permanent role working 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri.
