Job summary

Volvo Group in Thetford invites applications for Apprentice HGV Technician positions starting in 2027. You will train on modern trucks and buses, with a structured path from classroom learning to hands-on repair work, under supervision from qualified Technicians.

The program lasts 32 months, includes block release at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby, and leads to a Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician Level 3 qualification. Shift: Mon–Fri, 40 hours.

Qualifications

• GCSE A*-C in Math and English.
• Interest in heavy vehicles and willingness to learn.
• Basic mechanical understanding and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs that are carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate.
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Attend college courses regularly and achieve the standards required by the course.
• Attend any technical or development training that is made available.
