Job summary

Volvo Trucks is opening applications for HGV Technician Apprenticeships starting in 2027, based in Bardon Hill/Coalville area. The programme offers a 32-month Advanced Level Apprenticeship with classroom and hands-on training at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby.

You will learn to repair, service, MOT and maintain modern trucks and buses, including hybrid technology, while earning a wage. You will train with qualified technicians, attend college blocks, and receive a dedicated Development

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic individuals with a strong interest in heavy vehicles.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Strong communication skills and a team player mentality.
• GCSEs A*-C in Math and English are desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs carried out in line with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate.
• Assist in the fault diagnosis process.
• Learn and comply with warranty procedures during repairs and with warranty material on completion of repair.
• Assist and work with the parts team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fitted to the vehicles.
• Learn how to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Assist with cleaning the workshop.
• Assist with ensuring that time recording procedures are followed and that job cards are completed accurately.
• Ensure all vehicle defects are reported to the workshop Supervisor.
