Job summary

Volvo Trucks UK and Ireland is inviting applicants for HGV Technician Apprenticeships starting in 2027 at Bedford. The program blends classroom study with hands-on repair work and uses Volvo tools in a modern workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Interest in heavy vehicles and willingness to learn.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and a team-player mentality.
• Desirable GCSEs: Math and English at A*–C (Grade 4+).

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs using Volvo standards and tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis.
• Learn and comply with warranty procedures during repairs.
• Assist with selecting correct parts with the parts team.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely.
• Help keep the workshop clean and organized.
• Ensure time recording and job cards are completed.
• Report any vehicle defects to the workshop supervisor.
• Wear PPE when required.
• Attend college courses and meet course standards.
• Participate in any training opportunities provided.
