Job summary

Volvo Group in Bury St Edmunds is offering an HGV Technician Apprenticeship starting in 2027. You will learn to repair, service, MOT and maintain modern trucks and buses, working with qualified technicians and Volvo tools. Training includes IMI qualifications with block release at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby.

Qualifications

• GCSE A*-C in Math and English required.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and a desire to learn.
• Strong problem-solving skills and keen eye for detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs carried out in line with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis processes.
• Learn warranty procedures and handle warranty material on completion of repairs.
• Work with parts team to ensure correct parts are fitted to vehicles.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Attend to workshop cleanliness and organisation.
• Complete job cards accurately and report defects to the workshop supervisor.
• Wear PPE as required and attend college courses regularly.
