Job summary

Volvo Group invites applicants for an Apprentice HGV Technician position in 2027. This 32‑month Advanced Level Apprenticeship combines on‑the‑job training with classroom learning at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby and onsite at Volvo facilities.

You will gain hands‑on experience repairing, servicing, MOT and maintaining trucks, buses and hybrids, while earning IMI qualifications and developing with a dedicated Development Coach.

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic with a strong interest in heavy vehicles.
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and a desire to learn.
• Excellent problem solving and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• GCSEs including Math and English at grade C/4 or better.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs in accordance with Volvo standards and using Volvo tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and learn warranty procedures.
• Work with the parts team to ensure correct replacement parts.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Attend college courses and related training blocks.
• Support shop operations and ensure accurate job cards.
