Job summary

Volvo Group is launching HGV Technician Apprenticeships starting in 2027. The program offers hands-on work with Volvo trucks and buses, combined with block-release college training at Inspiro Heavy Vehicle Academy in Derby over 32 months.

Participants will receive full equipment and mentorship, learning repair, service, MOT, and maintenance of modern vehicles, including hybrid tech. Start dates include May and August 2027 and the role emphasizes development through IMI qualifications.

Qualifications

• GCSE Math/English at grade C or above required.
• Enthusiasm for heavy vehicles and willingness to learn.
• Willingness to participate in block-release training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with repairs following Volvo standards and using Volvo tools.
• Assist in fault diagnosis during repairs.
• Learn and comply with warranty procedures on repairs.
• Support parts team to ensure correct replacement parts.
• Learn to use Volvo special tools safely and efficiently.
• Assist with workshop cleanliness and PPE usage.
• Ensure accurate completion of job cards and time records.
• Report vehicle defects to the workshop supervisor.
• Attend college courses and development training as scheduled.
• Pursue IMI qualifications through dedicated coaching.
