Job summary

James Lewis Recruitment is seeking a HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter for a busy York workshop. Permanent role with a Monday to Friday shift, offering a salary of £45,000 - £55,000 OTE and opportunities for progression.

The successful candidate will carry out planned maintenance and diagnostics on trucks and trailers, perform mechanical and electrical repairs, and conduct MOT/tacho checks, with a strong focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Time-served HGV Technician with City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 preferred.
• Proven experience repairing and maintaining trucks and components.
• Valid driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned maintenance and servicing on trucks and trailers.
• Fast and accurate diagnostics and fault finding using diagnostic tools.
• Mechanical and electrical repairs, working independently.
• Vehicle inspections and compliance checks (MOT, tacho, etc.).
• Final checks on completed work.

Shift: Monday to Friday, rotating 7:00am - 4:30pm and 11:00am - 8:30pm

• Fast and accurate diagnostics and fault finding using diagnostic tools.
• Mechanical and electrical repairs, working independently.
• Vehicle inspections and compliance checks (MOT, tacho, etc.).
• Final checks on completed work.

HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic / HGV Fitter Qualifications and Requirements:

• Time-served HGV Technician or equivalent (City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 preferred)
• Proven experience repairing and maintaining trucks and components
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Own tools preferred
• Valid driving licence
