Job summary

Interaction Technical is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician to join their expanding workshop team in Hatfield, South Yorkshire. You will service, diagnose and repair a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles with regular overtime and genuine progression opportunities.

The role offers a £47,000 base salary with realistic £55,000–£60,000+ OTE, and a benefits package including pension, 28 days of holiday and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Experience as HGV Technician or similar in a commercial vehicle workshop.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across heavy vehicles.
• Ability to service, inspect, maintain and repair HGV fleets.
• Good knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Flexibility to breakdown, call-outs and mobile repairs as required.
• Full UK driving licence – essential; HGV licence desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
• Conduct vehicle inspections, defect reporting and preventative maintenance.
• Strip, inspect and rebuild major components (engines, gearboxes, axles, suspension, brakes).
• Test and fault-find to ensure DVSA and company compliance standards.
• Complete repairs and maintenance per manufacturer specifications.
• Attend vehicle breakdowns and provide roadside assistance on rota.
• Carry out mobile maintenance and repairs at customer sites when required.
• Accurately complete job cards and service sheets.

Salary: £47,000 per annum | OTE: £55,000-£60,000+ Location: Hatfield, South Yorkshire Hours: Rotating Shift Pattern

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm

Weeks 2 & 3: Monday to Friday, 10:00am-8:00pm

1 in 3 Saturdays: 6:00am-2:00pm, paid at 1.5x rate

The Role

• Carrying out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on a mixed fleet of HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults
• Conducting vehicle inspections, defect reporting and preventative maintenance
• Stripping, inspecting and rebuilding major components, including engines, gearboxes, axles, suspension and braking systems
• Carrying out testing and fault‑finding to ensure vehicles meet DVSA and company compliance standards
• Completing repairs and maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications
• Attending vehicle breakdowns and providing roadside assistance as part of a rota
• Carrying out mobile maintenance and repairs at customer sites when required
• Accurately completing job cards, service sheets and other maintenance documentation

The Requirements

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or PSV Technician — essential
• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent — essential
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding skills across commercial vehicles
• Experience carrying out servicing, inspections, maintenance and repairs on HGV fleets
• The ability to strip and rebuild major vehicle components
• Good knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems
• A full UK driving licence — essential
• An HGV licence — desirable but not essential
• The ability to work independently and as part of a professional workshop team
• A flexible, proactive approach to breakdowns, call‑outs and mobile repair work
