Overview

HGV/LGV Mechanic

An established transport and logistics business based in Glossop are seeking a skilled HGV/LGV Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of its vehicle fleet. This hands-on role involves ensuring all heavy goods vehicles are compliant with safety standards and operational requirements across a rotating shift pattern.

Qualifications

This position is ideal for a fully qualified, time-served HGV or LGV mechanic with strong diagnostic skills and a background in heavy goods vehicle maintenance. It would suit someone confident working independently, comfortable with shift patterns, and experienced in welding and fabrication tasks. A valid HGV and FLT licence is essential.

Salary

Up to £40,490k per annum

12 hour working days 6am till 6pm

Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday

Week 2 - Thursday and Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on HGV/LGV fleet to meet legal and company standards
  • Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed
  • Prepare vehicles for MOT, including full cleaning and inspections
  • Diagnose and rectify a wide range of mechanical faults
  • Comply with all health and safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment
