Job description

Thrive Group Oldham is seeking HGV Refuse Drivers to work for the local authority in and around the Rochdale area.

You will be based at their Rochdale depot and required to drive around the Rochdale Borough with a team. Your role involves providing a safe, effective, and efficient Refuse Collection Service, including all recycling collection activities, in all weather conditions.

Rate of pay: £14.36 per hour, rising to £14.68 after 12 weeks.
Hours: 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, Tuesday - Friday.
Location: Rochdale and surrounding areas.

Purpose of the job:

You will deliver a high-quality refuse collection service, operating in various weather conditions, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The driving involved is stop-start and requires high awareness, especially when maneuvering in tight spaces and around parked vehicles, pedestrians, and the public.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conducting daily vehicle checks and reporting defects.
  • Operating the vehicle's power mechanisms.
  • Supervising team duties and responsibilities.
  • Working collaboratively within a team.
  • Maintaining high standards of customer care.

Requirements:

  • Class 2 HGV Licence (CAT C), CPC, and Digi-Tacho.
  • Knowledge of current transport regulations.
  • Professionalism and courteous manner.
  • Ability to drive in all weather conditions.
  • Leadership qualities and leading by example.
  • Previous waste/refuse experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.

Duration: Temporary / Ongoing.
