Job summary

Evri in Newcastle seeks a Class 1 HGV Driver to join our 45-hour weekly schedule. You’ll operate a Volvo tractor-trailer, modern and well-equipped, on night trunk runs to regional hubs, with shifts typically starting around 5–6pm.

Qualifications

• Class 1 driving licence is required.
• Driver CPC qualification is required.
• DCPC training hours completed or in progress.
• Strong knowledge of Road Transport Laws and safe driving practices.

Responsibilities

• Trunking to regional hubs on the night shift.
• Ensure goods are delivered to customers on time; some sites load/unload; scanning consignments and using pallet trucks.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if necessary.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and9-hourshifts per day which typically start at5/6pm. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes.This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift. So, if you like the independence of being out on the open road for long stretches - but also want to be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift, this is the job for you.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time.At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
