Job summary

Evri in Preston is seeking an HGV Class 1 Driver on a permanent 45-hour week. You'll operate a Volvo truck from a modern fleet, with 9-hour shifts starting around 7–8am, Monday to Friday, delivering goods to customers.

You'll plan routes, make 4–6 stops per shift, and be home each evening. Daily tasks include inspecting your vehicle, loading/unloading at sites, scanning consignments, and using pallet trucks where needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class 1 driving licence.
• Driver CPC qualification card is required.
• Completed DCPC training hours or be working towards them.
• Strong knowledge of road transport laws and safe driving.

Responsibilities

• Plan routes and drive; 4–6 stops per shift; home after each 9-hour shift.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily; complete Defect Report if needed.
• Load/unload as required; scan consignments; operate pallet trucks where needed.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8am. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, sothere’splenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - butyou’llstill be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
