Job summary

Evri in Swindon is seeking a HGV Driver Class 1 for a permanent 45-hour week. You’ll drive a Volvo lorry from our modern fleet, with shifts Mon-Fri 9am-7pm and 7/8am starts, and enjoy a well-organised schedule and time on the road.

You’ll be responsible for safe vehicle checks, loading/unloading at times, and ensuring timely delivery to customers. A CPC and knowledge of road transport laws are essential, with training hours supported.

Qualifications

• Class 1 driving licence is required.
• Driver CPC qualification card is required.
• DCPC training hours or progress toward them is expected.
• Excellent knowledge of road transport laws and safe driving practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from our Volvo fleet, with up-to-date safety features.
• Plan and follow routes with typically 4–6 stops per shift.
• Load/unload as needed and operate pallet trucks when required.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and raise a Defect Report when necessary.
• Ensure on-time delivery to customers and maintain logs and scanning procedures.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8am. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, sothere’splenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - butyou’llstill be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
