Job summary

Evri in Thames Valley is recruiting for a Class 1 HGV Driver on a permanent basis. You’ll work a 45-hour week, Monday to Friday, 9am–7pm, driving modern Volvo lorries and representing the UK’s premier parcel delivery company.

You’ll be responsible for timely deliveries, safe vehicle operation, and occasional loading/unloading as needed. A stable shift pattern and focus on route planning are provided to support drivers.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Class 1 driving licence.
• Driver CPC qualification card is required.
• Completed required DCPC training hours or actively working towards them.
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and safe driving practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from our Volvo fleet, ensuring safe operation.
• Plan routes and manage time to deliver on schedule.
• Ensure cages, pallets, freight and pallets reach customers on time.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and complete a Defect Report if needed.
• Assist with loading or unloading at sites where required and scan consignments.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you’ll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, sothere’splenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - butyou’llstill be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
