Job summary

Evri in Preston is seeking a dedicated HGV Class 1 Driver for a permanent role. You will operate a modern Volvo fleet, follow scheduled shifts from Monday to Friday, and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining safety and vehicle inspections.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from our Volvo fleet, ensuring comfort and safety for each journey.
• Plan routes with 4–6 stops per shift and be home after every 9-hour shift.
• Ensure timely delivery of cages, pallets, freight and related items, assisting with loading/unloading when required.
• Inspect vehicle and trailer daily and file a Defect Report if necessary.

WhatYou’llDo:

You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old.They’rea joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leatherseatsand many more optional extras to make sureyou’recomfortable.

Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45 hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8am. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance whereyou’llbe driving, taking the stress out of your day.

Key Role Responsibilities

Wedon’tmicromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes. The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, sothere’splenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - butyou’llstill be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.

You’llmake sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time. At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others,you’llneed to do it yourself. Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.

You’llbe responsible forinspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and complete a Defect Report if necessary.
